MY EXPERIENCE
I gain great satisfaction from Celebrant work as it utilises spirituality, creativity in writing, literature and my public speaking skills. It gives me a precious opportunity to facilitate major family milestones through life for many people, who may be experiencing serious stress. I have the flexibility of a full time celebrant which enables me to be available at short notice.
This summer, as part of a pilot scheme with the Auckland Registry office, along with three others, I have been appointed as a temporary Court Registrar to conduct Registry Office weddings which are held at the Birkdale Community Centre. This is the fun way to go. It is an old villa with a lounge (waiting room), a front porch for photos and we use the front parlour. It can hold up to 20 people and we have a short, cosy ceremony, which can be more personal and friendly than a courthouse. It think it is much easier for families to access and use. It costs the same, we use the same script for vows, it is just a suburban location, with a celebrant instead of a Dept of Internal affairs officer. Please look at my testimonial pages for some photos.
